Suburban Pied-a-Terre
A retired couple, looking to down size, purchased the mansard attic space of a historically significant mixed-use building which overlooked a busy suburban business district. Their request was to accommodate their extensive art collection, provide an outdoor setting to read or enjoy a cup of coffee, but most of all to “Wow” them when they came home.
The dramatic geometric volumes were calmed by the use of simple linear forms and neutral colors which helped organize the space and provided surfaces to exhibit their art.
