This 10,000 square foot “empty-nester” residence was designed to accommodate large-scale family entertaining. The owners have many children and grandchildren, all of whom live locally and spend much of their time enjoying the adjoining pool, tennis court and features of the home itself.

The residence is an assemblage of several separate one-story volumes of various sizes and heights joined together to form exterior garden and terrace spaces. Looking out from within the house, these volumes have been arranged to create a special family compound, with each volume housing a separate function: one for the kitchen, master bedroom suite, guest wing, etc. The weathered gray wood exterior and expanses of glass blend into the lush landscaping which is integral to the home.

Materials include white maple floors, figured Anigre woodwork, and white walls on which the owners display their large collection of art.
