Scott Crowe, AIA has been a Senior Project Architect since the founding of Grunsfeld Shafer Architects, LLC in 2001. He is also the Operations Manager of the firm, responsible for coordination and scheduling of numerous projects. Crowe joined Shafer Architects, PC as a Senior Project Architect in 1998. While there, he directed the design and production of several residential projects, including the complete renovation and addition to an historic home in Lake Forest, Illinois and a renovation to a pool house designed to complement an historic home in Winnetka, Illinois.

Previously, Crowe worked at Peter Forbes and Associates in Boston as an Associate and Project Architect. Projects included several large residences and two retail projects. Before moving to Boston, Crowe worked in Raleigh, North Carolina for two firms, where he was responsible for the design and production of several large corporate headquarters, a electronics laboratory, a college student union and an elementary school. He also designed several arts related projects in North Carolina – the Nash County Arts Center, an adaptive renovation of an historic church for use as a community art studio and meeting hall; Page Walker Hotel Arts Center, a renovation and addition to an historic hotel for use as an exhibition and education space; and Wilson Arts Theater, the renovation of an historic theater and meeting space.

During his career, Crowe has participated in many projects that require the ability to work with group clients, complicated programs and difficult sites and contexts. As a designer, he has worked at various scales, from the level of cabinet detail to that of campus plan. As an architect, he has directed project teams to deliver consistently high quality design, even when challenged by tight schedules, limited budgets and demanding parameters.
