Hyeseon Ju
Architect
Hyeseon Ju joined Grunsfeld Shafer Architects in 2012. She received her Master’s of Architecture from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Seoul, Korea. While in Boston, Hyeseon had studio exhibitions at Boston Institute of Art as well as Cornell University.
Hyeseon was a senior architect at Murphy/ Jahn Architects in Chicago. During her time with Murphy/ Jahn she worked on many international skyscraper projects. She was a central member of the design team for several office tower projects, working closely with principal architects, Francisco Gonzalez, Sandy Gorshow and Nicolas Anderson. She worked on the interior design of the lobby and sky garden for Leatop Office Tower in Guangzhou, China. She was also on the design team for the Shanghi Financial District Office Tower in Shanghi, China. She was responsible for plan coordination with the client’s program requirements, MEP and structure consultants. She also had various responsibilities on a residential project in Amman, Jordan and the Veer Tower in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Before she joined Murphy/ Jahn she worked for Solomon Cordewell Buenz & Associates in Chicago. She worked closely with the project architects on schematic design, planning and feasibility studies. While she was in Boston she had an internship at Jeremiah Eck Architects and at Harvard University’s Planning Department. Right after graduating from college in Korea she also worked at a well known architectural design firm, Space Group of Korea in Seoul. During that time she participated on a variety of projects which included a few competitions, a community center and retail centers.
Hyeseon has experienced and trained with firms that focus on design excellence. She thinks it is important that architecture merge with the concepts that meets the client’s requirements and focuses on the importance of harmony between architecture and site context.
