GSA Presents to Local Middle School
On March 22, 2010, Tom Shafer gave a presentation on architecture to a group of Elm Place Middle School 8th graders as part of the school’s annual career fair. Tom presented drawings, models, and photographs of completed buildings to explain to the students what an architect does and what the process of becoming an architect entails. The Highland Park News ran an article on the career day and made special mention of Tom’s contributions, quoting one student who for the first time considered architecture as a career after seeing the presentation. “I think I would like drawing the plans. It’s interesting to start a project from scratch and see it built up,” said the student. We agree!
